Middletown High School

Middletown, MD

Located in Frederick County, Maryland, about one hour from both Baltimore and Washington, Middletown High School has a growing student population of approximately 1200 students in grades nine through twelve. Within the last few years, the community school has been in a rapid transition from rural to suburban.

A comprehensive high school, Middletown High School serves students with a wide variety of abilities, talents and interests. Students are grouped into three achievement levels: Honors, Merit, and Directed. Over 45% of our students take one or more Advanced Placement tests by the time they graduate. Currently 90% of all our students achieve at the A, B, C Level, and approximately 53% of our students earn Honor Roll status each term. Middletown High School is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and by the Maryland State Department of Education. Middletown High School operates on the "Block Schedule" concept, which enables our students to earn four credits in four 90-minute classes each semester. Thus our students are afforded the opportunity to earn eight credits per year and advance more quickly in academic areas.
